Fuel: Codacons on price rises – an extra €16.5 million spent daily on refuelling alone

Milan, 14 Mar. (LaPresse) – ‘The war in the Middle East is currently costing Italians a further €16.5 million a day just on refuelling at petrol stations.’ This is according to Codacons, which has carried out a study to analyse the impact of the crisis on citizens’ pockets. ‘From 27 February, before the outbreak of the conflict, to 14 March, the average price of diesel at the pump has risen by +18.5%, or +32.2 cents per litre, equating to an extra cost of +€16 per full tank,’ analyses Codacons – Petrol has risen by +9.1% (+15.3 cents per litre), with an extra cost of +7.6 euros for a full tank.‘ ’A rise in prices which, considering only daily fuel sales on the ordinary network (roads and motorways), costs Italians a further 16.5 million euros every day compared to the pre-conflict period. In fact, on average, 40.1 million litres of diesel and 23.9 million litres of petrol are sold daily on the Italian road network, totalling over 64 million litres of fuel per day,” adds Codacons.
