Milan, 18 March (LaPresse) – “We have always been loyal to the United States and to every president, but this war does not involve an area within NATO’s remit.” This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, a guest on Agorà on Rai3, speaking about the war against Iran and the criticism levelled by US President Donald Trump against the countries of the Atlantic Alliance. “We remain committed to safeguarding freedom of navigation in the Red Sea and to the fight against piracy in the easternmost part of the region,” he added, “and naturally we are defending Cyprus because it is a European country that has been attacked.” “We are not at war; no one has asked us to go to war,” Tajani clarified, “Israel and the US have attacked without telling us anything.”
