Rome, 18 March (LaPresse) – The State Police carried out a raid this afternoon on a warehouse in a rural area within the municipality of Vignola, where a gang of suspected robbers was identified. Officers from the NOCS, a special unit deployed to secure the area, also took part in the operation. Twelve people were arrested. According to initial reports, a shootout occurred during the raid. The outcome is that twelve people have been arrested. One police officer sustained minor injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment; his condition is not thought to be serious. Investigators are now verifying the identities of those detained and reconstructing the exact sequence of events. Among the hypotheses being examined is that the group was planning an attack on a cash-in-transit van along the A1 motorway.
