Ukraine, Orbán: “We will not accept any decision for Kyiv without oil”

Brussels, Mar. 19 (LaPresse) – “Hungary’s position is very simple. We are ready to support Ukraine once we get back our oil that is being blocked by them. We are waiting for the oil. Everything else is just talk. So we only believe in facts: the oil must arrive in Hungary. Then a new chapter can begin, but until then we cannot support any pro-Ukraine proposal. I’m sorry, there’s nothing else, because this is an existential issue. What we’re talking about is not politics,” said Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán upon his arrival at the European Council in Brussels.

“For Hungary, obtaining the oil is an existential matter. Without that oil, all the families working in Hungarian companies will go bankrupt. So this is no joke. It is not a political game. Zelensky should understand: this is not a game. It is an absolutely existential matter for Hungarians,” he emphasized.

Not even the formalization of accession talks for Ukraine and Moldova? “None, none of the pro-Ukraine decisions will be supported by Hungary until the entire issue is resolved,” he added.
