Meloni: ‘Working towards de-escalation and to minimise the economic consequences’

Milan, 19 March (LaPresse) – Regarding Trump’s remarks on the Middle East, “Italy’s official position is the one we have already put forward in Parliament: Italy is not taking part in this attack on Iran, nor does it intend to do so. What we are trying to do, clearly given the circumstances, is to work towards de-escalation. We are helping the Gulf countries, which are our strategic partners, to defend themselves, but above all because there are tens of thousands of Italians in the area, as well as 2,000 soldiers stationed there. Beyond that, we are obviously working to address the consequences of the conflict, which for us are primarily security-related consequences, as well as economic consequences that we must strive as much as possible to tackle and minimise.” This was stated by the Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, during an interview on Fedez and Mr Marra’s ‘Pulp Podcast’.
