Bessent: ‘Trump is using the only language the Iranians understand’

Milan, 22 March (LaPresse/AP) – US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has stated that US President Donald Trump is using ‘the only language the Iranians understand’ by threatening to destroy the country’s power stations if Tehran does not fully open the Strait of Hormuz. Bessent told NBC’s ‘Meet the Press’ programme that Trump “will take all necessary measures” to achieve his objectives in the war with Iran. The Secretary was also asked to comment on the statement issued last week by Trump, according to which the latter is reportedly considering the possibility of “gradually reducing” military operations, and whether the President is now escalating the conflict. “They are not mutually exclusive,” Bessent said, “sometimes it is necessary to escalate the tension in order to then de-escalate it.”
