Rome, 26 March (LaPresse) – The Guardia di Finanza is carrying out searches at the Ministry of Defence, RFI, Terna and the National Strategic Centre as part of an investigation by the Rome Public Prosecutor’s Office, which is an extension of the inquiry into Sogei, concerning alleged offences of corruption, money laundering, self-laundering, bid-rigging and influence peddling. The Rome Economic and Financial Police Unit, acting on behalf of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, is carrying out searches targeting individuals and legal entities linked to the case, who are under investigation on various counts. A total of 26 people are involved, including defence generals, executives of public companies and entrepreneurs. At the centre of the investigations, coordinated by magistrates Giuseppe Cascini and Lorenzo Del Giudice, are alleged irregularities in the management of IT contracts and tender award procedures for the procurement of goods or services issued by public administrations and state-owned companies.
