Olympics: IOC aligns with Trump, transgender athletes barred from women’s events

Rome, 26 March (LaPresse/AP) – Transgender athletes will be excluded from the Olympics after the IOC agreed on a new eligibility policy that aligns with US President Donald Trump’s executive order on women’s sport ahead of the 2028 Games in Los Angeles. The International Olympic Committee states that “eligibility for any women’s category event at the Olympic Games or any other IOC event, including individual and team sports, is now limited to biological women”.
