Jerusalem, Cardinal Pizzaballa prevented from entering the Holy Sepulchre

Jerusalem, Mar 29 (LaPresse) – “This morning, Israeli police prevented the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, head of the Catholic Church in the Holy Land, and the Custos of the Holy Land, Father Francesco Ielpo, official Custodian of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, from entering the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem, as they were going to celebrate Palm Sunday Mass.” This was announced by the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem in a statement. “The two were stopped along the way while proceeding privately and without any characteristic of a procession or ceremonial act, and were forced to turn back. As a result, and for the first time in centuries, the Heads of the Church were prevented from celebrating Palm Sunday Mass in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre,” the statement reads.
