Football: Lukaku breaks his silence: ‘I could never turn my back on Napoli’

Milan, 30 March (LaPresse) – ‘I could never turn my back on Napoli, never.’ Romelu Lukaku has broken his silence with a lengthy post on Instagram, following the controversy of recent days regarding his relationship with Napoli. ‘There’s nothing I’d like more than to play and help my team win,’ he added, “but right now I need to make sure I’m 100% fit, because I haven’t been recently and that’s taken its toll mentally too. It’s been a lot this year, but in the end I’ll get there and help Napoli and the national team achieve their respective goals when I’m called upon. That’s all I want,” added the Belgian. “This season has been very demanding for me, between the injury and the personal loss. I know there’s been a lot of talk about my situation in recent days and it’s important to set the record straight. The truth is that I haven’t been feeling physically well in recent weeks; I had it checked out whilst I was in Belgium and it turned out there was inflammation and fluid in the iliopsoas muscle, near the scar tissue — it’s the second issue I’ve had since returning at the start of November. I chose to undergo rehabilitation in Belgium so that I can be ready when I’m called upon,” concluded Lukaku.
