Middle East, Herzog: ‘I welcome the agreements reached regarding Easter services’

Turin, 30 March (LaPresse) – ‘I welcome the agreements reached this morning between senior Israeli police officials and the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, during a meeting held in the presence of a representative of the Presidency of the Republic, with a view to defining the arrangements for Easter celebrations in the Old City of Jerusalem’ . Israeli President Isaac Herzog wrote this on X. “I reaffirm the State of Israel’s unconditional commitment to freedom of worship for the faithful of all religions and the importance of preserving the status quo at Jerusalem’s holy sites. On behalf of the State of Israel, on the occasion of the upcoming Easter, I wish to send my warmest wishes to the Latin Patriarch, to my Christian sisters and brothers in the Holy Land, and to all our Christian friends in the Middle East and around the world,” Herzog added.
