Stadio Milano, Sala: ‘No allegations of corruption; discussions with clubs are normal’

Milan, 31 March (LaPresse) – “At present, we have no information other than what we are learning from the media. However, we feel it is right to clarify certain points. First of all, as far as we can tell, there is not the slightest suggestion of corruption, and this is of fundamental importance. Furthermore, it should be made clear that the Stadiums Act and public-private partnership procedures require preliminary discussions with football clubs; such discussions are, therefore, a natural part of the process.” This was stated by the Mayor of Milan, Giuseppe Sala. ‘That said, we await the outcome of the investigations with confidence, believing that the authorities have acted in good faith and for the good of Milan. We sought to address a risk – namely, the departure of our two football clubs from the city of Milan – through extremely lengthy, complex and difficult negotiations conducted exclusively in the public interest,’ adds Sala.
