Rome, 1 April. (LaPresse) – Conclude the parliamentary process of the reform of the electoral law “by 2026 to avoid legislating on this matter in the last year of the legislature”. This is the “hope” expressed by the president of the Constitutional Affairs commission of the Chamber Nazario Pagano. “Legislating an electoral law in the last year of the legislature, too close to the elections, is not appropriate – Pagano explained to reporters at the end of the commission’s presidency – We are proceeding slowly, but we are moving forward. We are defining the perimeter of the law, also meeting some requests from opposition representatives”. To get the law approved within the year, Montecitorio’s approval should arrive “before the summer, since the Chamber will also have to examine the maneuver at first reading” and will therefore be involved in the budget session.
