Milan, 5 April (LaPresse) – “Your Holiness, on behalf of the Italian people and on my own behalf, I wish to extend my warmest wishes to you on the occasion of Holy Easter, the first since your election to the papal throne. On this day when the Catholic Church celebrates in Italy and throughout the world the joy of the Resurrection and the triumph of life over death, I hope that these sentiments, especially in such complex and troubled times, may bring comfort and urge everyone – leaders, women and men of good will – to rediscover as soon as possible the reasons for dialogue, moderation and peaceful and just coexistence among peoples”. So said the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, in a message sent to Pope Leo XIV on the occasion of Easter. “We take comfort in the hope that Holy Easter will bring everywhere a message that shakes us from resignation and urges concrete action so that humanity may be awakened from what Your Holiness has called the ‘globalisation of powerlessness’,” continued the Head of State.
