New York: Mamdani confirms death of attacker at New York station; three injured

Rome, 11 April (LaPresse) – The Mayor of New York, Zohran Mamdani, has confirmed via a social media post the death of the man who attacked three people with a machete at Grand Central Station this morning. “Officers shot the man when he refused to drop the machete. He was subsequently pronounced dead,” he wrote. ‘I am grateful to the NYPD for their swift response and for preventing further violence. The three victims were taken to hospital and, fortunately, are in stable condition. The NYPD is conducting an internal investigation and, as is the case with all incidents involving the use of firearms by an officer, will release footage from the officers’ body cameras,’ he concluded.
