Rome, 12 April (LaPresse) – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu entered southern Lebanon on Sunday to assess the situation in the territories occupied by Israel. This was reported by CNN, citing an Israeli official and a source familiar with the visit. This is the first time Netanyahu has crossed the border into Lebanon since the start of the war with Iran. The surprise visit comes just two days before direct talks between Israel and Lebanon are scheduled to take place in Washington. Netanyahu was accompanied by Defence Minister Israel Katz and the Chief of Staff of the Israel Defence Forces, Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir.
