FI: Costa elected by acclamation as the new leader of the parliamentary group in the Chamber of Deputies

Rome, 14 April (LaPresse) – The meeting of Forza Italia MPs, currently taking place at the Palazzo dei Gruppi in Montecitorio, has reportedly elected Enrico Costa as the new leader of the party’s parliamentary group in the Chamber of Deputies by acclamation. The handover from Paolo Barelli was met with applause. Enrico Costa, the newly appointed leader of Forza Italia in the Chamber of Deputies, reportedly spoke shortly after being elected by acclamation at the ongoing meeting of the party’s deputies in the Chamber. He paid tribute to the party’s founder, Silvio Berlusconi, and went on to thank Paolo Barelli, whose “door has always remained open”, and the national secretary, Antonio Tajani. “I am committed to valuing the professional skills of each and every one of you,” said Costa, who is said to have set “cohesion and competence” as his guiding principles. As for his working method, however, he added: “I will speak with each of you MPs to make the right choices, respecting and valuing each person’s history. I take on this role with a wealth of liberal values. Putting the individual and their freedom of choice at the centre. A modern centre-right must be concerned with freedom and rights.”
