Rome, 18 April (LaPresse) – The United States has renewed the exemption from sanctions on the sale of some Russian oil for approximately one month, with the deadline set for 16 May, following the previous exemption which expired on 11 April. The decision comes in contrast to statements made in recent days by Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, who had announced that the exemption would not be extended. The Trump administration had already eased some restrictions on Russian oil to keep energy prices in check, particularly following market tensions linked to conflicts in the Middle East.
