If I look at all the matches we’ve played, I believe our defensive performance has been of the highest standard.’ So said Roma manager Gian Piero Gasperini on the eve of the clash against Bologna. “I believe that in the two matches against Bologna we probably did even better. We lost in extra time at a time when the team still put in a very good performance, both in the return leg and the first leg, coming from behind. We always had to dig deep and fight back. Then in extra time the goal came, and that’s fair enough, because they were two evenly matched games,” he added. “Bologna are an excellent, well-organised side with a strong squad, accustomed to the level because they were in the Champions League last year. And they were undoubtedly good in that match too. However, I believe that Roma played two very strong matches, just as the match against Atalanta was also very strong. So, if I look at the recent performances, including the last one we played, I believe this team has given me satisfaction,” emphasised the Giallorossi coach.
