Usa, Washington confirms neutrality on the Falkland Islands

Washington (USA), Apr 25 (LaPresse) – The United States on Friday reiterated its neutral position on the sovereignty dispute over the Falkland Islands (Malvinas) between Argentina and the United Kingdom, according to a spokesperson for the US State Department, as reported by The Guardian. “Our position on the islands remains neutral. We recognize that there are competing sovereignty claims between Argentina and the United Kingdom,” the spokesperson said, adding that Washington recognises the United Kingdom’s “de facto administration” of the archipelago without, however, taking a position on ultimate sovereignty.
