NBA Playoffs: San Antonio knock out Portland, Philadelphia cause an upset against Boston

Rome, 29 April (LaPresse) – San Antonio didn’t put a foot wrong; with a superb display of teamwork and maturity, they beat the Blazers in Game 5. Led by De’Aaron Fox, who quashed Portland’s attempts at a comeback, they sealed the series 4–1 and advanced to the second round of the play-offs, a stage they haven’t reached since 2017. With the chance to close out the series against Philadelphia, the Celtics suffered a disastrous fourth quarter and, thanks to a superb performance from Joel Embiid at the other end, suffered an unexpected home defeat that pushes their progression to at least Game 6. Advancement could also come in Game 6 for the Knicks, who dominated Atlanta at Madison Square Garden, led by a superb Jalen Brunson, and now lead 3-2. Below are the results from last night’s NBA playoffs: Boston Celtics v Philadelphia 76ers Game 5 97-113 (Series 3-2); New York Knicks v Atlanta Hawks, Game 5: 126-97 (Series 3-2); San Antonio Spurs v Portland Trail Blazers, Game 5: 114-95 (Series 4-1).
