Flotilla, Israel: “No torture, forced to resort to force.”

Milan, May 3 (LaPresse) – The Israeli Foreign Ministry has responded to accusations from Global Sumud Flotilla activists arrested and transferred to Israel, who reported being tortured and beaten. “Contrary to the false and unfounded accusations prepared in advance, at no time did Saif Abu Qashaq and Thiago Avila suffer torture. Following violent physical blockades against Israeli crew members, the crew was forced to act to stop these actions,” the Israeli Foreign Ministry said, according to Ynet news outlet. “During the process of transferring passengers to Greek forces, several passengers refused and began sparking violent riots. To address the violence and complete the transfer, a police unit operating aboard an IDF vessel was forced to use force,” the statement added.
