The Real Madrid and France striker has faced criticism in Spain after travelling to Sardinia with actress Ester Expósito last weekend. The Spanish media and Real Madrid fans have questioned his commitment ahead of Sunday’s Clásico in Barcelona. Mbappé’s representatives therefore issued a statement on Tuesday denying any misconduct. “Some of the criticism is based on an over-interpretation of details relating to a recovery period strictly supervised by the club, without reflecting the reality of Kylian’s commitment and the work he puts in every day for the team,” the statement read. Mbappé had already faced criticism earlier this season when he was unable to play due to a knee problem.
