Naples, 14 May (LaPresse) – He stabbed his wife with a pair of scissors, following months during which she had been subjected to threats and violence. The incident took place in Naples, in the Rione Traiano district, where Carabinieri from the operational section of the Bagnoli unit arrested a 66-year-old man who will face charges of domestic abuse and grievous bodily harm. His wife was injured with a pair of scissors at the height of yet another row. The alarm was raised in the afternoon when the A&E department at San Paolo Hospital sent a request for assistance to the police regarding a woman who had just arrived at the hospital. The victim, a 65-year-old woman, told the Carabinieri that she had been attacked by her husband inside their home. The argument reportedly began over trivial matters and quickly escalated. The man allegedly began insulting the woman with offensive and threatening remarks, before violently pushing her against the living room table, which was destroyed during the attack. It was only then that the victim realised her husband was clutching a pair of kitchen scissors. The 65-year-old attempted to flee but was struck several times in the chest, back and right leg. Despite her injuries, the 65-year-old managed to escape from the house and take a taxi to San Paolo Hospital, where doctors gave her a prognosis of 21 days.
