Ankara (Turkey), 18 May (LaPresse/AP) – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who was monitoring the operation from military headquarters in Tel Aviv, praised the soldiers for having ‘foiled an evil plan aimed at breaking the isolation we are imposing on the Hamas terrorists in Gaza’ by intercepting the vessels of the Global Sumud Flotilla off the coast of Cyprus. According to the Global Sumud Flotilla tracker, at least 17 vessels were intercepted in the first three hours of the operation, 250 nautical miles off the coast of Gaza. Unlike previous interceptions, which took place mostly under cover of night, the Israeli army boarded the vessels in broad daylight.
