You saw the grace and courtesy with which he addressed our President Mattarella. He just needs to plan the season well, because it’s not as though he hasn’t wanted to take part on previous occasions. I hope that, by mutual agreement, we can secure his participation in the next Olympics as well.” So said CONI President Luciano Buonfiglio on the sidelines of the launch event for the third edition of the ‘Sport and Innovation Made in Italy’ project at the Farnesina. Referring to Binaghi’s comments, who said he had proposed to several CONI presidents the idea of setting up a television channel, Buonfiglio explained: “It’s a project that I too had mooted a few years ago; it ran into the problem that the production costs would have to be borne by the federations. If we could find the financial backing to make it happen, it would be a fantastic idea.”
