Milan, 19 May (LaPresse) – Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani has asked the Italian Ambassador to Israel, Luca Ferrari, ‘to take a further formal step with the Israeli authorities to request that all Italian citizens participating in the Gaza Flotilla be assured of dignified treatment, full protection and a guarantee of their safety during any administrative, security or logistical operation carried out by the local authorities’. This is stated in a note from the Foreign Ministry. ‘In accordance with international law and the consular conventions in force, the Embassy has asked the competent Israeli authorities to take all necessary measures to safeguard the physical integrity and fundamental rights of Italian citizens,’ the note adds.
