Milan, 21 May (LaPresse) – “The time for words is over; we need concrete action. If Giorgia Meloni really wants to distance herself from Netanyahu, it is not enough to simply declare the attack on the flotilla unacceptable. She must take an official stance before the international community. It is late in the day, but this is the only way to make amends for three years of appeasement.” So said PD Secretary Elly Schlein to La Repubblica. “We cannot carry on merely issuing press releases, which are free and cost nothing: we need sanctions against Netanyahu and his ministers,” insists the PD leader, “who not only commit crimes in Gaza and the West Bank, but also cover up the violence of settlers against Palestinians. Indeed, it is precisely on this point that I wish to challenge the majority. The PD, together with the M5S and AVS, has tabled a bill to prevent products from the forcibly occupied territories from entering Italy: let them vote for it with us. It would be a strong signal to show which side Italy is on,” she adds.
