Milan, 23 May (LaPresse) – “The discussion on common debt and the refinancing of Next Generation EU is obviously ongoing.” This was stated by European Commissioner for the Economy Valdis Dombrovskis at a press conference following the informal Ecofin meeting in Cyprus. ‘I have already outlined a series of EU-level initiatives that we are financing through shared debt, and the options we should consider, should the situation require it, in the next MFF as well. And as regards the refinancing of the new-generation EU debt, the debate is certainly ongoing,’ he continued. “Member States’ views vary. That is why I said that, well, the European Commission’s proposal on the next MFF is on the table, including the repayment arrangements for this new-generation EU loan, and it is now up to the Member States and the European Parliament to discuss it and reach an agreement on the matter; for our part, the Commission is ready to support it,” he added.
