Milan, May 28 (LaPresse) – The Castrol Honda LCR team has announced that “Cal Crutchlow will replace the injured Johann Zarco in the Italian Grand Prix at Mugello.” Former LCR rider Crutchlow joined the team in 2015 and raced with LCR until 2020. During those six seasons, Crutchlow and the team secured 12 podium finishes, including three victories. His first win came at Brno in 2016, marking LCR’s first-ever MotoGP victory and the first MotoGP win for a British rider since 1981. Now the pair will reunite at Mugello in 2026. LCR thanked Crutchlow “for his willingness, commitment, and desire to ride the Honda RC213V, a testament to the long-standing bond between the rider and the team and the cherished memories they share.” The Castrol Honda LCR team also expressed “its full support for Zarco during this difficult time, wishing him strength and a speedy recovery, as the French rider is set to undergo surgery in the coming weeks.”
