Milan, 28 May (LaPresse) – Neymar will miss the national team’s pre-World Cup friendlies and, presumably, the opening match against Morocco as well. This is the prognosis given by the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) doctor, Rodrigo Lasmar, in a statement released on Thursday at Granja Comary, in Teresópolis. Before the press conferences with Casemiro and Weverton, Lasmar spoke about the Santos striker’s condition. “Neymar arrived yesterday at Granja Comary, where he underwent a full medical examination, culminating in an MRI scan which revealed a grade two calf injury, not simply swelling. He is expected to be available in two or three weeks,” said the Brazilian Football Confederation’s doctor, as reported by local media. With an expected absence of two or three weeks from the national team, Neymar should be available between 11 and 18 June. The Santos striker will miss the two World Cup warm-up friendlies: against Panama at the Maracanã on Sunday 31 May and against Egypt on 6 June in Cleveland, USA. If the optimistic forecast of a two-week absence is confirmed, Neymar would only be available again on 11 June, two days before Brazil’s World Cup opener against Morocco on 13 June.
