Rome, 29 May (LaPresse) – “We must protect the athletes’ health. That is our top priority. What happened yesterday shows just how much a player of Sinner’s calibre has once again proved himself to be a human being.” So said the Minister for Sport, Andrea Abodi, on the sidelines of the Youth Games finals in Rome. “For better or for worse. I believe there is nothing new in recognising all of Sinner’s qualities – not just his technical skills, but his human qualities too. I think it also helps us understand that, however successful an athlete may be, he is just like us. He is still subject to all the difficulties that a normal person’s body might encounter. Despite the training, despite the preparation, it can happen, and we must ensure we appreciate him even more at this stage.”
