Milan, June 2 (LaPresse/AP) — Pressed by Democrats and Republicans on the status of negotiations with Tehran, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio sought to present Congress with a more optimistic view of the progress Washington has made with Iran. “They have agreed to negotiate aspects of their nuclear program that just a month ago, just a year ago, they refused to even mention,” he said, adding, however, that “it is no guarantee that an acceptable agreement will ultimately be reached” for Congress. He then explained that these negotiations have been made difficult by the instability of Iran’s leadership.
