Rome, April 21 (LaPresse) – Firefighting operations continued throughout the night to extinguish the blaze that broke out yesterday afternoon at a factory in the Umbertide area, in the province of Perugia. The fire has been almost completely contained by the Fire Brigade, although some isolated hotspots remain active. Most of the plastic materials stored outside were destroyed or severely damaged. Despite the intensity, there have been no reported injuries or cases of intoxication among workers, rescuers, or the local population. To complete the operations, special operational units of the Fire Brigade are being deployed to carry out debris clearing and area remediation. Last night, the President of the Umbria Region, Stefania Proietti, visited the site of the fire along with local authorities to express support for the responders and assess the situation firsthand. Deputy Interior Minister Emanuele Prisco remained in contact with the Fire Brigade Command to monitor the progress of the operation.
