Milan, 16 June (LaPresse) – The Chicago Bulls have appointed Brazilian Tiago Splitter as head coach, after the former NBA centre served as interim coach of the Portland Trail Blazers this season. Splitter, 41, joined Chauncey Billups’ coaching staff in Portland last June. He was promoted from assistant coach to interim head coach when Billups was arrested in October as part of an operation targeting a vast illegal betting ring. Splitter led Portland to a record of 42 wins and 40 defeats, losing 1–4 to San Antonio in the first round of the play-offs. He takes over from Billy Donovan, who stepped down after six seasons.
