Shrewd in discerning the country’s political and social shifts, he considered it fundamental to guide cultural transitions with the Catholic pride of being custodians of a heritage of values not to be hidden, but to be safeguarded and defended, fulfilling his episcopal motto ‘Veritas liberabit nos’.”
