Evian (France), June 17 (LaPresse) – “Today Italy achieved a major success in Europe. The European Parliament has approved the new EU return regulation, a historic measure largely resulting from the work of the Italian government, which allows us to quickly repatriate those who have no right to stay in the European Union,” said Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni in a video posted on social media, while in Evian for the final day of the G7. “The regulation,” the premier explained, “also includes the possibility of opening return centres in third countries, thus following the path opened by the Italian government with the protocol with Albania, an innovative solution that the Italian and European left has tried to oppose in every way, but which thanks to this government has now become a tool available to the entire European Union.”
