Turin, 17 June (LaPresse) – Tomorrow, Elsa, a 15-year-old from Biella, will be discharged from the Regina Margherita Children’s Hospital in Turin and will return home following the complex and demanding treatment she has undergone since the fire on New Year’s Eve in Crans-Montana, where she was injured. She spent the initial period at the Kinderspital in Zurich receiving intensive care, before being transferred to the intensive care unit of the Centre for Severe Burns at the Città della Salute in Turin to manage her burns and the complications arising from them, which enabled her to overcome the most critical and high-risk stages. This was followed, on 24 April, by her transfer to the high-intensity care unit of the Paediatric Surgery Department at the Regina Margherita Children’s Hospital in Turin, with the aim of gradually restoring her physical independence so that she could come to terms with the psychological consequences of her ordeal.
