Madrid (Spain), 18 June (LaPresse) – The investigating judge of the Spanish National Court, José Luis Calama, has summoned the daughters of former Spanish Prime Minister José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, Alba and Laura, to give evidence as suspects in the investigation into alleged irregularities in the bailout of the airline Plus Ultra. The Socialist’s secretary, Gertrudis Alcázar, is also under investigation. The National Court announced this in a statement. Calama took this decision at the request of the Spanish Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office. The judge explains that the activities of the company Whathefav, of which Zapatero’s daughters are co-directors, “appear to be linked” to the alleged influence-peddling network that investigators are probing and which is suspected of having been directed by Zapatero himself.
