Milan, 19 June (LaPresse) – “For every tear shed by an Israeli mother, a thousand Lebanese mothers must weep. The whole of Lebanon must burn!” Israeli Minister of National Security Itamar Ben-Gvir wrote this on X after the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) reported that four of its soldiers had been killed overnight in a Hezbollah attack in southern Lebanon. Overnight, the IDF also carried out air strikes in Lebanon, where, according to the Lebanese state news agency NNA, 16 people were killed. “With all due respect to the Americans, Israel must make it clear to the whole world that the blood of our children and the safety of our citizens are non-negotiable. All of Lebanon must burn. Our supreme duty is to protect the citizens of Israel and the soldiers of the Israel Defence Forces (IDF), and this commitment takes precedence over every other consideration,” Ben-Gvir’s post reads.
