Milan, 19 June (LaPresse) – He attacked and attempted to strangle two children, one of whom was aged 3, who were in the park; he was stopped by a passer-by who held him at bay until the arrival of the Brescia police patrol. A 29-year-old man, a Nigerian national with legal status and resident in the province, was arrested following two attempted assaults in the ‘Guido Alberini’ park on Via Ischia in Brescia. After a call to 112 requesting urgent assistance was made by people using the park, patrol officers arrived to find a man holding down on the ground the individual identified as the assailant of the two children. Specifically, the 29-year-old had first grabbed a child by the neck; the child managed to wriggle free and run away. He then turned on a three-year-old boy, who was in the park with his mother, yanking him and attempting to strangle him. The little boy’s mother managed, with no small difficulty, to wrest him from the 29-year-old’s grasp, whilst a passer-by, also of foreign origin, came to the woman’s aid, pinning the attacker to the ground after a violent struggle.
