Turin, 26 June (LaPresse) – Argentina’s Economic Criminal Court has today confirmed the committal for trial of Claudio Tapia and Pablo Ariel Toviggino, president and treasurer of the AFA (the Argentine Football Association), as well as the committal for trial of the association itself in connection with proceedings relating to tax evasion. This was reported by *Clarín*. The charges relate to the failure to pay, within the prescribed time limits, over 19,000 million pesos in taxes and social security contributions. The complaint was lodged by the Customs and Tax Collection Agency. In the proceedings, the AFA is accused of withholding taxes and social security contributions without paying them by the established deadlines. According to the prosecution, the federation acted as a tax agent, deducting taxes and social security contributions from third parties, and then using those funds to finance its own activities.
