Washington (USA), Jun. 27 (LaPresse) – The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) confirms that yesterday U.S. military forces carried out strikes against Iran “as a strong response to Thursday’s attack on a commercial vessel transiting the Strait of Hormuz.” According to a post on X, U.S. aircraft “struck Iranian missile and drone storage sites and coastal radar sites after Iran hit the M/V Ever Lovely on June 25 with a one-way attack drone.” The Singapore-flagged merchant vessel, CENTCOM recalls, was exiting the Strait of Hormuz along the coast of Oman at the time of the Iranian attack. “The unprovoked aggression against commercial shipping by Iranian forces clearly violated the ceasefire,” the U.S. Command stressed in the post on X. “Furthermore, Iran’s dangerous behavior has undermined freedom of navigation as trade increasingly flows through the vital international trade corridor.” CENTCOM forces “continue to provide coordination and support for the safe passage of commercial vessels transiting the strait,” and U.S. forces remain “present and vigilant to ensure that all aspects of the agreement with Iran are respected, enforced, and fully in effect.”
