Rome, 1 July (LaPresse) – The summer sales officially begin on Saturday 4 July across most of Italy. But even in 2026, the sales – like the holidays – will not be within everyone’s reach. With energy bills continuing to rise and prices still high, many households are being forced to cut back on their spending, especially on non-essential items. Even middle-income households, not just those on low incomes, will therefore adopt a cautious approach to shopping: few extras, and only those deliberately put off in anticipation of the discounts. This behaviour, combined with the volume of purchases made by tourists visiting our country (who are primarily targeting premium brands), will keep the sales barometer fairly stable.
