Kyiv (Ukraine), 2 July (LaPresse/AP) – The death toll in Ukraine has risen to 17 following the large-scale Russian attack launched overnight from Wednesday to Thursday on the capital, Kyiv, with powerful explosions rocking the city for hours. This was reported by the Ukrainian emergency services, whilst the mayor of Kyiv, Vitali Klitschko, added that at least a further 90 people were injured. The attack, carried out using ballistic and cruise missiles as well as drones, damaged buildings and civilian infrastructure across the city. Many residents took refuge in underground stations after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and other authorities had issued the first warnings about the attack.
