Madrid (Spain), 2 July (LaPresse) – “We are continuing to take steps to protect our children on social media. In line with what was announced in February, today we are incorporating three key measures into the draft bill on the protection of children in digital environments: banning access to social media for under-16s; making the manipulation of algorithms and the amplification of illegal content a criminal offence; and establishing the criminal liability of executives should they fail to remove illegal content from their platforms.” Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez wrote this on X, referring to the draft bill due to be examined by the Congress of Deputies. “This government will not give in to the tech oligarchs. We will transform the digital space into a safe environment for our young people,” added the Socialist leader.
