Turin, 2 July (LaPresse) – Tyra Grant has been knocked out in the second round of Wimbledon, the third Grand Slam of the season currently taking place on the grass courts of the All England Lawn Tennis Club. The 18-year-old from Rome, ranked 172nd in the WTA, who had come through the qualifiers to reach her first Grand Slam main draw, conceded just six games in her opening match against Britain’s Katie Boulter (WTA No. 60) before losing 7-5, 6-3, in one hour and 35 minutes of play, to the Czech Marie Bouzkova, ranked 23rd and seeded 21st, who is making her ninth appearance at Wimbledon, where she reached the quarter-finals in 2022 and the last 16 in 2023. Thanks to the points earned so far on the grass courts of the All England Club, Tyra is already certain to achieve – on Monday 12 July – her ‘best ranking’, around 140th place.
