Milan, 3 July (LaPresse) – Alessandro Bastoni, a defender for Inter and the national team, who is under investigation for child prostitution as part of the Milanese inquiry into an alleged ring involved in the exploitation of and aiding and abetting prostitution, did not appear before the Milan public prosecutors. Through his lawyer, Salvatore Scuto, the player informed Public Prosecutor Rosaria Stagnaro and Deputy Public Prosecutor Bruna Albertini of his decision to exercise his right to remain silent and therefore not to appear to answer questions. Instead, Riccardo Calafiori, a defender for Arsenal and the Italian national team, who had been summoned as a witness, was questioned this morning at a branch office of the Milan Public Prosecutor’s Office. The footballer ‘dribbled past’ the many journalists trying to locate the venue of the questioning. The case relates to the investigation into the events agency which, according to the prosecution, allegedly offered young escorts to wealthy individuals – in particular Serie A footballers – for ‘all-inclusive’ evenings. In addition to Calafiori, Daniel Maldini and Kevin Bonifazi were also questioned yesterday as witnesses. None of the three footballers questioned as witnesses are under investigation. In the coming days, other footballers may be summoned by the magistrates to give evidence.
