Rome, 4 July (LaPresse) – “Owing to its geographical position and its institutional framework, Europe is in a position – in this region – to tackle the crisis in a comprehensive manner” and to do so “by ensuring that the dignity of every person is respected”. Pope Leone made these remarks in his homily at Lampedusa. “It is a task for public institutions,” he added, “but also for civil society as a whole and for the Church.” In conclusion, the Pope emphasised that “Europe possesses a unique potential, which derives from its history and culture.” These circumstances give rise to “an equal responsibility”.
