Turin, 4 July (LaPresse) – “Another trip to hospital. More adrenaline, fear, medication. Once again, my life was hanging by a thread. I’m allergic to casein. It’s not a whim, it’s not a dietary fad, it’s not an intolerance. It’s a potentially life-threatening allergy. And yet it’s happened again. During a dinner at a restaurant in Rome, after clearly informing them of my allergy, I found myself fighting for my life.” This is the account given by Aldo Montano, a former fencing champion who has been admitted to hospital in the last few hours due to anaphylactic shock. “In 2026, it is unacceptable that there is still such carelessness, lack of preparation and such a serious underestimation of food allergies. When a person informs staff that they have an allergy, they are not asking for a favour: they are placing their life in the hands of those who prepare and serve that dish,” he wrote in an Instagram post, sharing a photo of himself in a hospital bed wearing an oxygen mask.
